admin | eco-travel, green weddings, wedding tips | Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Looking for a Canadian Eco-Honeymoon Adventure? A British Columbia kayaking trip is the perfect honeymoon for a nature enthusiast or animal lover alike. Getting back to basics and being immersed in nature can be peaceful and de-stressing and a great way to get to know your partner! British Columbia offers some of the best sea kayaking in the world, with more than 20 lakes and rivers, and dozens of species of animals to be viewed in their natural habitat. Glacier and mountain views are simply breathtaking. Spend your day lazing in the warm lagoons, or grab your flippers and try to find one of twenty species of starfish while snorkeling the emerald shaded seas.

Guided tours are available and can be a great way to see where locals love to kayak, and help those who are beginners. While kayaking the open seas, don’t be surprised in you encounter a family of dolphins, or maybe a sea lion sunbathing on the rocks. This area is home to more killer whales than anywhere else on Earth. A highlight of British Columbia kayaking would be Quadra Island, a small island with about 3500 inhabitants. Considered to be one of the best whale watching sites in British Columbia, Quadra Island is part of Provincial Park, allowing the island to be protected and preserving its natural beauty. Spend your day kayaking the seas, enjoy a gourmet dinner provided with many of the tours, and have some alone time by the fire under the stars. With kayaking, whale watching, and swimming, everyone should be able to find something that peaks their interest on the beautiful waters of British Columbia.

admin | green products | Friday, January 1st, 2010

January 1 is different for everyone — Some like to look back at what they’ve done, others like to look ahead at what they’ll accomplish, while others just like to live in the present — soak it up — and enjoy what life has to offer them one day at a time…

Mahatma Ghandi once said, “Be the Change that you want to see in the world.” At Talen Events, we try to do this — little step by little step – one event at a time. We hope that if you’re reading this you too want to take the time to tweak what you’re doing.. maybe even a little, for your new years resolution.

This is why we give you a list of some worthwhile resolutions - Ecofriendly “Baby Steps” that can start you off in the right direction this year — Be the change you want to see in your world and maybe those around you will follow suit…

So without further ado:

- Go from Plastic to Canvas Bags at the Grocery Store
- Start buying Natural Cleaning Products
- Change your lightbulbs
- Don’t run the dishwasher unless its full — run it during the night instead of after dinner
- Don’t throw clothes away - give them away
- Start Carpooling
- Look for local vendors in your area — start using them
- Take an Eco-Vacation!
- Drink Water from the Tap
- Start Composting
- Grow your own Vegetables or Herbs
- Find something new you haven’t recycled before
- Read a book about Green Living

New Years Resolutions don’t have to be grim — so why not take this year and make a pact to do something that will save you money AND help the environment! Don’t forget to tell your friends and let them know what eco savy changes you’re making this year!

As Always.. Happy Planning! (And Happy New Year!)
